Schoolboy National Dual Team Announced
If you live in Washington and are in the Junior
Women division (9th through 12th grade) and would like to compete at the Junior
Women's Dual Team Championships and Freestyle National Championships in Fargo,
North Dakota from July 28th through July 30th, 2005 - E-Mail Chuck Bullard at ChuckBullard@earthlink.net
by May 15th, 2005. The WSWA is looking forward to putting together a Dual
Team for Junior Women this year. There are 11 weight classes and we would
like to fill as many spots as we can.
Kids National Championships for Midget, Novice and
Schoolboy divisions will be held in Greenbay, Wisconsin from June 29th - July
2nd, 2005. You are eligible to compete at the National Championships ONLY
if you actively compete at Kids/Cadet Western Regionals. Deadline date for
you to send your Official Entry Form
to the Event Host is June 24th, 2005. More

If you are in the Cadet, Junior or Junior Women's
Division and placed in the top 3 at either Freestyle or Greco Roman State
Championships OR the top 3 at the Tom Shaw Northwest Regional Championships in
Battleground or the top 3 at Junior West Regionals in Las Vegas or the top 3 at
either FILA Cadet Nationals or FILA Junior Nationals then you are eligible to
compete at the Cadet, Junior and Junior Women's National Championships in Fargo,
North Dakota from July 23rd - July 29th, 2005. You must register with the
Deputy Director from Washington, John Owen.

If you are a Midget, Novice, Schoolboy or
Cadet and placed in the top 8 at either Freestyle or Greco Roman State
Championships, you are eligible to compete at Kids/Cadet Western Regionals held
in Winnemucca, Nevada from June 20th - 25th, 2005. You must register with
the Kids Director from Washington, Mike Sweet, by the deadline
date of May 27th, 2005. Information for

Deadline for WSWA to receive Application is
May 7th, 2005 - If you are applying for a dual team
spot and a tournament event that you need to place at has not yet occurred, you
still need to send in the application by the deadline with all required forms
and fees and then call the WSWA office to update your qualification criteria
following the event with your place standing.

There is a pairings clinic January 16th, 2005 from 2-6pm at Lynnwood Alfy's
Pizza. The address is: 4820 - 196th St. S.W., Lynnwood, WA. It
is being hosted by the Rhinos Wrestling Club. This would be for
clubs, coaches and parents who are interested in learning how brackets work.
It is free of charge.

Reminders:
1) All WSWA event weigh ins are from 7-8 am unless otherwise noted on the
event schedule page for that event. If you are in the registration line
with a weigh in card in your hand, you will be allowed into the event. If
you have not got the card in your hand, you will be turned away. No
exceptions.
2) You need to print your USA Card if you did not do so when you purchased
it online. You MUST have a copy of your card at an event. If you do
not, you will be required to purchase another one with no refunds for the
additional purchase. You can reprint by logging back in and clicking on
the "little" white piece of paper and then printing it. You must
have this card with you to register at a tournament. If your birthdate
does not show up on the card or it is incorrect - send an e-mail to Sherry at SherryBullard@earthlink.net
so she can correct it and then you can re-print your card.
3) You must wrestle for a sanctioned USA Club at WSWA events. If you
do not belong to a sanctioned club or are "umbrella'd" under another
club - you must sign up under the club that is sanctioned OR wrestle
Unattached. You cannot wrestle for a city - it must be for a sanctioned
club. All weigh in cards will be checked at all events and changed to
Unattached if you are not under a sanctioned club.
Clubs interested in hosting a bronze clinic need
to get a minimum of 10 coaches to attend. Jay Terry, the WSWA Coaches director,
is willing to conduct the Clinics on Sundays or he will get someone who is
certified to conduct them. The cost for a Bronze Level Clinic is $60 with
a current coaches card and $100-$105 with out. Clubs can contact Jay at TossFor5@hotmail.com

Attached you will find four new logos to be distributed at
your convenience.
There is a logo for clubs, affiliates (only to be used the the main state
association), events and Junior Olympic Programs. These logos will should
be used by the associated groups instead of using the official USA Wrestling
logo. They have full right to use these logos for non-commercial,
non-merchandising purposes.

Coaches Cards - $40.00 - purchase

Tournament Sanctions - $100.00 (must have scheduled an event at fall meeting -
for all others, you will need to e-mail me so I can get approval prior to you
sending in paperwork)
Club Charters - $185.00 (includes mandatory coaches card and one school district
for insurance - if you have more insurance requirements, you will need to e-mail
me for prices of additional sites)

Welcome to the 2004-2005 Wrestling season.
Events will be listed in the Schedule page when
they become officially sanctioned. A tentative schedule will also be
provided, but will be listed as tentative on the schedule page. You will
need to check back often to ensure the tournament remains on the schedule.
They have been known to be cancelled.
Our Mission
The objectives of the Washington State
Wrestling Association are to promote wrestling at all levels throughout
the state of Washington, and to ensure the continuation of, and improve
upon, opportunities for safe competition with exposure to various styles
of wrestling. It is the intent that the Washington State Wrestling
Association will be able to meet these objectives by creating
opportunities in wrestling for competitors of all ages and, along with
their coaches, parents, and fans, encourage their continued participation
in their sport as they advance through their lives.
The control and direction of the
Washington State Wrestling Association shall be placed in the hands of
those people who are now working with Washington's wrestlers, and the
goals of the Association shall include the development of responsible
wrestling administrators from the ranks of the Washington program at the
local, state, and national levels who will provide leadership and
direction to their membership, to develop an attitude of sincere concern
among all coaches toward the improvement of all levels and aspects of
wrestling from elementary through Olympic levels of competition, to
provide channels of communication within Washington and with the various
other states, furthering the exchange of ideas and experience to the
benefit of all wrestlers, to develop an attitude of unity within the State
of Washington toward program development and achievement, to increase the
positive attitudes of educator, wrestlers, and the general public toward
the art and science of wrestling, to assist with those activities which
can be developed in a state wide basis, to provide a system for democratic
representation of all competitors, coaches and concerned people in local,
state and national organizations and activities dedicated to the sport of
continuity of effort as wrestlers and coaches step forward from elementary
level to the most advanced and
successful endeavor for which they may strive.
