Washington State Wrestling Association Schoolboy/girl,

Cadet and Junior National Dual Teams qualification criteria

The process for qualifying and selecting the Schoolboy/girl, Cadet Dual and Junior Dual teams for Washington has been formed.

The three Dual Teams will now go through a qualification process.  In order for you to be considered to one of the spots on the team you must qualify based on the criteria below.  If you have met that criteria, or received an invitation you will be allowed to participate at a qualifying tournament as long as you have completed the correct application and submitted the proper fees.  The qualifying tournament(s) will be held at the end of the regular WSWA season. The location of this year’s tournament will be in Kirkland at Juanita High School on May 14th, 2005. Weigh-In times and tournament details will follow at a later date.

The Schoolboy/girl Dual team will consist of 27 individuals who will be considered based on both Freestyle and Greco-Roman abilities. There may be a few more individuals selected to ONLY Participate in Freestyle or ONLY Participate in Greco-Roman as necessary. There are 19 Schoolboy/girl weight classes, so be aware that NOT all of them will Have 2 spots. Any Spots not filled will be filled by the Coaches & Team Leader.

The Cadet Dual team will consist of 26 individuals who will be considered based on both Freestyle and Greco Roman abilities.  There may be a few more individuals selected to ONLY participate in Freestyle or ONLY participate in Greco Roman as necessary.  There are 17 Cadet weight classes so be aware that NOT all of them will have 2 spots. Any Spots not filled will be filled by the Coaches & Team Leader.

The Junior Dual team will consist of 24 individuals who will be considered based on both Freestyle and Greco Roman abilities.  There may be a few more individuals selected to ONLY participate in Freestyle or ONLY participate in Greco Roman as necessary.  There are 15 Junior weight classes so be aware that NOT all of them will have 2 spots. Any Spots not filled will be filled by the Coaches & Team Leader.

It is recommended that Cadets qualify for the cadet team and Juniors qualify with the junior team because of the grueling grind put on the athlete.  But, the WSWA will allow any athlete to participate in both age groups as long as they meet the age group requirements set by USA Wrestling and are able to pay all required fees.

To be able to compete at the qualifying tournament, you MUST have competed in one of the events below and placed according to the following criteria.  A seeding process will be followed.
