2003 Application

Must be a Washington State Resident
Entry Into tournament is by invite / qualification only – Must have met criteria of one of the following:

Place winner at current year Tri-State (North Idaho Jr. College)
Place winner at current year Pac-Coast (Evergreen High School – Vancouver, WA)
Place winner at current year Washington State High School WIAA Championships (Tacoma Dome)
Place winner at current year Tom Shaw Memorial Northwest Regional Championships (BattleGround High School – Battleground, WA)
Place winner at current year Greco State Championships (East Valley High School – Spokane, WA)
Place winner at current year Freestyle State Championships (Skyview High School – Vancouver, WA)
Place winner at current year West Junior Regionals (Las Vegas, NV)

There will be NO walk ins at the door on day of tournament
Application must be in the hands of the State Chairman no later than May 5^th, 2003. Application cannot be postmarked by that date – it must be received by that date. Note, if you qualify at Las Vegas which is after this deadline, the State Chairman will be in attendance and you can hand him your application, fees and all required forms while you are there – before you leave. If you do attend Las Vegas and have already qualified via other means, you should send in your application prior to Vegas and just call to add the additional tournament points immediately following the event – this way your application is secured. Any application turned in after this deadline date of May 5^th, 2003 may or may not be added to the tournament. Final say will come from the coaching staff consisting of the Junior Director, Cadet Director and the State Chairman.
A deposit on the trip must be included with the application or the application will be returned. The deposit will be $350.00. This includes partial payment of the dual team trip and $20.00 to cover the dual team qualifier tournament which this year will go to Everett High School to cover the costs of putting on the event. This $20.00 is non-refundable. Final payment for the trip will need to be sent in by June 1^st, 2003 if you are selected for the team. If you are not selected, $330.00 of the qualifier tournament entry fee will be refunded back to you within one week of the conclusion of the qualifier tournament.
Qualifier tournament date is May 17, 2003 and will be held at the Everett High School Gym. Freestyle and Greco Roman will be wrestled in one day, depending on the number of athletes. Weigh in times will be announced on the WSWA web site located at: http://www.WashingtonStateWrestling.com under the tournament schedule page.
A wrestler MUST wrestle the qualifier tournament at the weight they will wrestle at for the duals.
Top Wrestlers will be seeded. Unseeded wrestlers will go into brackets by draw number order. A bracket with 6 or more wrestlers will be placed in “A” and “B” pools – with direct cross for final matches.

“A” Pool #1 will wrestle “B” Pool #1 for 1^st & 2^nd Place
“A” Pool #2 will wrestle “B” Pool #2 for 3^rd & 4^th Place
“A” Pool #3 will wrestle “B” Pool #3 for 5^th & 6^th Place

If a Cadet moves from Cadet to Junior from previous year, points in this category will be cut in half.
If the points are earned out of style (if you are competing in qualifier tournament for freestyle and your points were earned in a Greco tournament) your points will be cut in half
If a Cadet or Junior competed on last year’s dual team, he or she will receive 4 points.
A National team member from last year will receive 2 points

5) Copy of Birth Certificate

6) Complete and Signed Dual Team Entry Form – Ensure it is the correct form – they are different between the Cadet and Junior Team
