2008 Washington Schoolboy National Dual Team Recap

Washington's Schoolboy Dual Team competed in the 2008 Schoolboy National Duals held in Indianapolis, Indiana June 18-22. The tournament consisted of 27 teams and 548 wrestlers from 22 states. Most wrestlers competing in this tournament were top placers in their Greco and/or Freestyle state and regional championships. The following wrestlers were selected to represent Washington State at this year's tournament:

Caleb O'Halek, Jordan Rogers, and Jake Velarde were this year's team captains. Jake Velarde went undefeated in Greco and was selected to the All-Tournament Greco Team. One of the individual highlights of the tournament was Jordan Rogers (Spokane) who went undefeated in both Greco and Freestyle and was one of 14 wrestlers selected to both the Greco and Freestyle All-Tournament Teams. Matt Reed, wrestling at 144lbs. for Team Kansas was highlighted on the USA Wrestling website for recording a 9-0 record in Greco with 9 pins and an average mat time of 1:02. Reed finished the entire tournament 17-1 (with 15 pins) with his only loss coming by a TF 9-3, 7-1 loss to Rogers from Team Washington in the 4th round of the Freestyle tournament. Good job Team Washington.
