Dear Clubs,
I am writing to inform you that as of today, all card sales with the exception
of mandatory coaches cards sold with club charters, will be processed via online
registration only. This means, that you as clubs need to inform all of your
members, coaches and athletes, that they need to register themselves online for
a USA Wrestling competitor or coaches card. They will want to do this prior to
any practices or tournaments.
I will no longer process any cards sent to me by clubs or individuals. They will
be sent back to you with a note to refund the members their money so they can
use it to purchase their own card online.
To purchase the card, have the athletes or coaches go to the state website:
http://www.WashingtonStateWrestling.com and select USA Card Sales on the left
side of the main page. From there you will be directed to USA Wrestling’s site
for Washington registration. You will then select to join as a new athlete or a
new coach and it will take you to another screen where you will fill in your
information. If it finds you as a previous member, it will ask you for your name
and e-mail address where it will then e-mail you a member name and temporary
password. You will then use that to login as a member. Then you will click on
the Join USA Wrestling link towards the bottom of the page and process your
membership. It takes about 10 minutes and depends on the speed of your
connection.
Clubs, please inform your parents and coaches of this change immediately. We are
working with USA Wrestling to provide clubs and tournaments the ability to
register athletes as a club, but that has not yet been implemented. I will keep
you informed when you will be able to do that. I would advise parents, coaches
and wrestlers to get their cards prior to a tournament. For one thing you should
have a card prior to practicing and that should be prior to an event. The clubs
should be making this a mandatory requirement for practicing for their own
liability as a club.
Now is the time for everyone to be getting their cards – do not wait.
Cards will be printed with the payment confirmation when they are purchased – no
more waiting for them. The one you print is the one that will be used all year.
Once you purchase, you are a covered member instantly.
Please let me know if you have any issues during the registration process so I
can relay that information to the website developers and get it corrected.
Your USA Wrestling membership card is the only copy you will receive. Please
have your parents make a copy of it and put it away in case you lose the
original. I cannot stress this enough. Always carry around identification that
will confirm your birth date in case you are questioned at an event. Parents
will be required to produce this information if they are questioned by any
member of the tournament staff or State staff.
Please update any club prices on your website to reflect this change.
